One of the things that bugs me most about those template driven chiropractic megasites are their excitement about offering hundreds of pages of content. For example, one chiropractic website provider claims to offer over 400 pages of content on your chiropractic website.
What they don’t tell you is the same 400 plus pages of content are appearing on their other clients websites, many of them sharing the same IP as yours!
What is the duplicate content penalty? It is a penalty applied by Google (and maybe even some other search engines) when content you are displaying on your website is very similar (or identical) to content found elsewhere on other websites across the internet (and even on your own site).
Talk about sucking your site into search engine hell. Here you are with this website and you’re trying to get it ranked but with lttle luck. Chances are someone along the chain is already ranking for your chiropractic content and google is recognizing you as a duplicate content pusher.
Search engines consider duplicate content SPAM and they do not like it.
Chiropractic websites that are mass produced and pushing duplicate content are getting pegged for identical content most often seen in condition related artcles such as those about sciatica, back pain, exercises for neck pain, lower back discomfort, what is a subluxation, etc…
What are you to do? First, I would check the contracts you have with you web provider. If they are offering you loads and loads of pages of content, ask that it be unique content that is not appearing on any of their other chiropractic website clients sites.
Do a google search on “duplicate content penalty” to get more information. Well have plenty more to discuss on this topic, I’ll get back to it soon.
