Kill Your Flash Splash Page
For years I have been telling people that flash splash home pages suck. For the purposes of a chiropractic website, they are just a bad idea.
If you have a movie coming out or are promoting some event, concert, sporting event, etc… then maybe a splash page in flash is OK. Generally though, I say stay away from the splash flash homepage and just get us the information we want asap.
Typically, I leave websites in a flash when those homepages begin loading. I am amazed how many sites I see paying money to adwords and then they send click thrus to flash splash pages. Arghh!
The theme here is don’t waste peoples time with those one and two minute openings, and please don’t do it using audio as well! Get the most important information on your homepage and get it above the fold so people can see it.
I’m not negative on flash, when it is used correctly, it can add great value and improve the user experience. Creating a flash homepage is not (in my opinion) a good use of flash, nor is it a good way to get your homepage found in search engines.
Flash is fantastic for how to’s, movies, ads, widgets, photo slideshows, and stuff like that. Kill your flash homepage and get back to html (or php, asp or whatever you use) so we can get to your web content quickly.
Just my thoughts. ![]()
